Freddie Ljungberg made his Arsenal debut against Manchester United in September 1998 – and what a debut! The Swedish midfielder scored by lobbing the ball over Peter Schmeichel as The Gunners won 3–0. Freddie has become better and better each year, and he has now established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premiership. During our double-winning season in 2001/02, he and Dennis Bergkamp found each other perfectly, with the Dutch master delivering the passes whenever Freddie made his diagonal runs cutting inside from the left wing. This resulted in Ljungberg scoring a total of 17 goals during the season. The highlight of the season for Freddie was obviously when he scored the winning goal against Chelsea in the FA Cup final. During Sweden's 2002 World Cup campaign, Ljungberg sustained a hip-injury which ruled him out for the early stages of the 2002/03 season. But when he returned to the field at the first day of the Champions League adventure against Borussia Dortmund, he was just as good as before the injury, scoring the second goal in a 2–0 win.
